Ashton Woods... 10,000 acres of mountain land, divided into 363 large residential/recreational parcels of 20 to 215 acres in West Virginia's Hardy and Hampshire Counties. Yeeow!  New primary and second home construction taking place throughout. Lots of gorgeous new Log and Timberframe (Post & Beam) homes, high on the mountain, with spectacular views and sunsets. About Ashton Woods Property in General:
About a 4-8 minute drive (from Ashton Woods' 3 gated exits) to public access points on the South Branch of the Potomac River for canoeing, hiking and fishing.  New 4-lane portions of Rt. 55 (Corridor H) cut drive times considerably for those coming from the DC area. All Ashton Woods lots are perked (making septic systems legal), surveyed and accessed by good gravel roads, maintained for year-round use. Phone and electric lines are already in front of most lots... coming soon to the rest. Electric lines to every lot were already paid for by the original buyers. ALL 363 lots have access to DSL Internet lines along the road provided by Hardy Telecom. Those phone lines also access the phones at the gates for visitors to call you and allowing you to open the gate from your home phone.

Restrictive covenants that protect your property from mobile homes, commercial use, or from lots being subdivided any smaller than 20 acres etc., are summarized below. Nearby Moorefield (5-8 miles from entrances) has a 24-hour WalMart, several good restaurants, a six screen movie theater and more. Most other services are available nearby. Closest hospitals are in Petersburg and Romney, each about 20 miles, but Moorefield has an emergency care center right behind the McDonalds (just by coincidence).

Dog Owners:
Bring your dogs along... they're OK in my car! The dogs love walking in the woods with us. Make sure you have a leash as there are bears, turkey and squirrels that are usually too much for most dogs to resist.

-- All lots shall be used for recreational and residential purposes only.
-- Only one single family home of 700 or more square feet shall be permitted, per lot.
-- There shall be no mobile homes of either single-wide or double-wide configuration, nor any house trailers or buses, used either temporarily or permanently, as a residence or for storage.
-- There is a 30-foot setback requirement (no part of any home within 30' of lot line).
-- No junk, unlicensed or inoperative vehicles shall be stored upon any lot unless housed within a garage.
